Not all Sunbed use is Bad...you can't live without the Sun and we don't get enough in the UK during the Winter.I think Sunbeds get a bad rap because of a few unscrupulous tanning Salons that allow children to use thier beds - and those stories 'always' get the attention of the press. I use a really reputable Salon that is very strict on the usage and follows the Sunbed Association guidelines. They don't allow anybody between 16-18 to use the beds unless they have a parent with them & they offer lots of alternative tanning options as well.. I have psorasis & SAD so use the beds at least once a week during the winter months. I meet lots of older people using the Sunbeds for arthritis etc. I am doing a big study on this subject & would say that it's about 50/50 but the industry needs to be regulated so that we get the unscrupulous money grabbing salons closed down & only use reputable salons who follow strict guidelines. Home Beds (Hire) are one of the worst - they really should be banned because I know somebody who used to spend literally hours every day on the thing. I would say that the SUN is actually more dangerous especially if you go on holiday & lie on a beach for 2 weeks with no base tan. Used responsibly, sunbeds are good for you - just like a glass of red wine with your meal is good - its just some people are excessive in nature (because it feels good) and drink the whole crate!

Dear Fabulous! Don't know if this is the right place to comment but here goes anyway! Colin and Justin's kitchen? Wow!!!! What an awesome place those guys have. And it's great to hear that they got married! They're an inspiration to the rest of us! Ive always loved their shows and their unique sense of style and Ive always wondered what their own place would be like! Well now I know! Have to say that your mag is really living up to its name. Life, on a Sunday, with all your lovely happy features... is utterly FABULOUS!!!

I have just read about the family with "tanorexia" im shocked to say the least im a redhead with very fair skin and afew years ago i attended a music festival and forgot sun screen, the rain dried up and the sun scorched all weekend. with limited access to sun screen i just covered up as best i could. I ended up with 1st and 2nd degree burns to my arms face and neck. My FACE IS NOW SCARRED and i have visibly more wrinkles than my friends of the same age. I cannot understand why people would want to damage their skin just to look good and feel better about themselves. I would love to be tanned and often am but by a bottle only!!! we only have one chance i wonder how they would feel if they had skin cancer later in life, would they eventually regret their actions and silly comments they gave in reply to being told their skin was already damaged. I hope none of us have to suffer the worst but if they choose to carry on like this i have no pity for them if the case arises.

I can relate to the tanorexic family, I always feel and look better with a tan, bottle, spray or whatever fake tan you use always looks exactly what it is FAKE! So sunbeds will always be a temptation. I use them less than 6 times a year and believe everything is ok in moderation.
Can I take this opportunity to say it has taken me a while to get used to you're new mag, but i now love it, I always read toxic batchelor first (wouldn't mind a date)then love on the road. Well done, keep them coming!

i cant get over the comment that sarah-jane made in her response to the verdict of her using sunbeds. She said she was more worried about wrinkles than skin cancer.I had skin cancer 7 years ago and i never want 2 go through that again i have since had 2 more moles removed,i also have a 4inch ugly scar on my forearm. It is an instant reminder of the growing melanoma [cancer]that would of took my life if i hadnt gone to the doctors to have it checked. It was all due to sunbeds and sunbathing.my daughter is 13yrs old and i am vigilant about slapping the suntan lotion on.I agree with denise van outen sunbeds should be banned.

I was diagnosed with skin cancer a few years ago - the worst kind - malignant melanoma - this was from a mole. I just want to say that I don't think people realise how serious skin cancer is - I thought it only affected skin and it was cut away - I was shocked to find out it spreads very quickly through your body and melanoma can be fatal if not dealt with early.
The most scary thing for me was facing this with 3 kids - going for 6 month checks and being told when I was pregnant that I should have waited as pregnancy can make the cancer return !!!.
All this and I don't even sunbathe !!! - I was told it could have been from childhood - I'm 36 now, and the last time I did lie in the sun was about 10 years ago when I went to Barbados.
Is it really worth risking when you have so many good false tan lotions etc - people who tan may look ok when they're young, but how many look good when they're older ??.
Please think again before you go on again - it isn't just skin cancer - it can spread through your body and kill you - it can't always just be cut away.
