Q. I want to have fillers to get rid of my crow's feet. Is there a permanent treatment I could have?
A. There are a number of permanent injectable materials available but their use remains controversial. The most well known is polymethyl methacrylate (also called Artecoll, Artefill, Artesense, Aphrodite Gold). It comes as a thick solution made of tiny beads which is injected into the wrinkle. After about two months, connective tissue forms around the beads, filling out the crease permanently. Prices from £600.
Q. Can I get rid of my freckles? I hate them.
A. Chemical peels can be used to minimise freckles by taking off the top sun-damaged layer of skin. The peel uses the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and takes about 20 minutes, depending on the number of freckles. You may experience a moderate burning sensation that lasts a few minutes. It costs from £400 per area, or £1,000 for the whole face.

SURGERY CARRIES RISKS. Make sure your surgeon is registered with the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery

Hello Dr Kavouni,
I've read your colunm over the last few weeks with great interest, you are obviously well informed and knowledgable on the subject of cosmetic surgery. I was wndering if you could give me some advice? My sister had a boob reduction some time ago from a GG to a B but was left with terrible scarring as carribean, she has keloid. as I lost weight a couple of years ago, I myself need an uplift, although I've been told that I do not the keloid promblem I am still wary. Do you know of any techniques for breast uplift surgery that would be better suited to afro carribean skin???

Dear Dr Kavouni,
Please help me if you can.I am afro carribean and suffer from darker knees and elbows to the rest of my skin. Whilst I know this is common for my skin type I also kknow it can be corrected with procedures like Microdermabrasion. Over the last couple of years I have contacted and visited clinics, surgeon's and dermatologist all willing to carry out this procedure on me yet fail to show me before and after pictures and are not willing to put me in touch with satisfied patients. Having had cosmetic surgery my fantastic surgeon whom I highly commend (Mr Mark Gittos) was very happy to show me his excellant work and would put me in touch with a happy patient for piece of mind and to see results first hand. So if you are able to give me any information that would help me find the the correct person I would be extremely happy. Allow me to conclude by saying Thank you for your excellent column.
Many Thanks
Nicky
