Nips/Tucks/ Tips
with Harley Street surgeon Angelica Kavouni

Q. How can I avoid a trout pout if I have collagen injections?
A. Injecting collagen into lips will hydrate them and create volume. The exact result depends on the total amount used and the specific areas injected. Too much in the border or centre may cause ‘trout pout’. Be sure to discuss the shape you want in detail with your practitioner. One injection costs from £400 and the effects last around 12 months.
Q. Pregnancy has left me with stretch marks. How can I get rid of them?
A. Stretch marks can only be completely removed with surgery, usually a tummy tuck. A less drastic procedure is to apply Retin-A twice daily to help improve the colour and texture of damaged skin. It is available on prescription from GPs at £30 for 60g, which will last six months. You should start to see results before you finish the tube. There is also a new technique called Fraxel laser treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin in skin, softening stretch marks. You’ll see an improvement after a course of five treatments, which will cost from £3,000.
Q. How can I lose my bingo wings?
A. Arm tissue naturally sags with ageing, but a procedure called brachioplasty removes excess skin and fatty tissue, leaving a thin scar along the inner arm. A newer version of the treatment leaves a smaller scar under the armpit but it’s not suitable for everyone. Both cost £4,500 and you will be able to return to work two weeks after surgery.
